On 10 April the memorandum on cooperation and holding of the Ufa International Education Fair (UIEF) between the MIEF Directorate and the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan was signed. The regional Fair is planned to be held on 6-9 November 2019. UIEF will be held in Bashkiria for the third time.
The document was signed by Lenara Ivanova, Acting Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan, and Maxim Kazarnovsky, Director of the Directorate of the Moscow International Education Fair ANO.
Maxim Kazarnovsky: “Signature of the agreement at such a high level assigns the future Ufa International Education Fair the status of a large joint project that will unite all institutions and levels of the Republic’s regional authorities, all societies implementing educational initiatives”.
Promotion of the Global Competitive Ability of Russian Universities
What does a global university mean? It means the best students and teachers, the best resources, a modern management system. Russian universities have done a great job in this regard. This was discussed within the framework of the 5-100 project determining the direction of the education system development.
Eduard Galazhinsky, Rector of the Tomsk State University: “In the result of the 5-100 project a society, clear targets, criteria of the success and dynamics assessment have been created. I think this project has drastically changed our understanding of ourselves in the world”.
Learning to Learn is most Difficult
Just several decades ago the term “lifelong student” was applied to people who failed to find their place in the life. Today continuous education relates to the most successful specialists in the labor market. This issue was discussed during the panel discussion “Ecosystem of the Continuous Education: the Future and Goals of Sustainable Development”.
Elena Didenko, Pro-rector of Additional Professional Education of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation: “It is difficult to compete for classical universities with corporate ones. This is primarily due to the lack of teachers having sufficient expertise to train businessmen. And I think this is one of the key problems preventing development of the continuous education”.
Education National Project for Life
Serious discussion of the Education National Project was held during MIEF-2019. Representatives of the education management bodies, heads of universities, schools and colleges discussed the essence of the national project and the risks that could arise during its implementation.
Maxim Dulinov, Director of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Service Federal Education Development Institute: “The national project is the central element of the state policy in the area of education for several next years. All speakers unanimously agreed on a number of positions: the basis of the national project is its content and final qualitative results, rather than infrastructure events”.
New Subjectness of Education
The main topic of MIEF-2019 is “New Subjectness of Education. Transition Point” meaning “student-centricity”, transformation of the child from the object into the subject of education. The most important thing here is conscious conversation of the child with himself, conscious selection and this relates not only to the selection of the university. This key aspect was considered during numerous events of the Fair. For example, during the master class “OK. What’s now?! Taking an Independent Decision”, students discussed what prevents them from taking conscious and responsible decisions and how the situation can be changed.
