New approaches to physical education

It is easier to persuade children that a healthy lifestyle is important than adults, but schools currently fail to do this, said experts of the “New Physical Education and Healthcare Practices” discussion held as part of the Moscow International Education Fair.

“The fitness industry is ready to help schools,” said Maxim Baboshin, a managing partner of Fitness Expert. “A healthy lifestyle should be promoted not only by means of physical education, but also during biology and health and safety classes. If a child is active, he or she also actively perceives information.”
There is no systemic education for trainers in Russia, and physical education becomes a “checkbox” subject, says Vladimir Dolgiy-Rappoport, a founder of the Tag Sport Football Academy. According to him, a good PE teacher should love shildren and the subject, and explain it clearly.

Maria Dobryakova, Chief Expert of the Institute of Education (HSE), suggested that PE classes should be more social: “One should communicate with the others. For instance, during the PE classes, pupils may explain to each other how to do various exercises. Thus, physical fitness is built up and social interaction is developed.”

How to attract investment in educational projects

A separate company which officially employs high school seniors is one of the sources of additional funds for the Tochka design school in Perm. This design studio fulfills orders from third parties, for instance it designs New Year’s gifts. Thus, children get real work experience, and the school obtains additonal resources for development, said director of the Tochka design school Anna Demenova during the session “How to attract investment in educational projects” held as part of the MIEF.

Other schools introduce crowdfunding for parents or propose thst they become co-owners of the school’s unique program by financing a non-governmental organization to which the rights belong.

According to CEO of Algorithmics Andrey Lobanov, there are several types of investors which can support educational projects at an early stage: angel investors, senior managers of large companies and accelerators. According to Mr Rudik, there are three hindrances to private investment in education: there is no market for educational services, the share of public funds is too large , and there are also statutory restrictions (government agencies cannot work with investors).
“Alomost no one can “pack” an idea in education, and if there is no such culture, it is useless to communicate with investors,” explained Maxim Kazarnovsky, director of the MIEF and chairman of the governing board of “Class-center”. “The most important thing is to understand whom you are going to deal with. You should know a person’s interests and past experience of investment.”

Certified nannies: distant future or possible tomorrow?

Certification of nannies was discussed at the MIEF for the first time. Today nurseries lack about a million places. Development of the “institution of nannies” could help solve the problem. This will create additional jobs and will be popular among parents, but there must be professional standards in this sphere.
Survey of nannies showed that they are ready to study and master new skills and approaches, Nannies consider their work to be a full-time job and are ready to develop, says Viktoria Don, the author of the “Nanny’s School” project. Skills which are sought-after by nannies include infant development methods, motivation of teenagers, psychological aspects of interaction with children and parents.

A nanny should become a social worker rather than a teacher: the state should at least partially pay for a nanny’s services.

Authors of the first professional standard for nannies suggest that such a specialist must have not only the complete secondary education, but also a certificate confirming that a person has completed training courses (144 hours) during which the candidates will learn the basics of hygiene, psychology and pedagogy.

New professions in crypto-economy

Blockchain technologies will revolutionize finance, healthcare, jurisprudence and other spheres. On the one hand, many people lose jobs because of blockchain; on the other hand, new professions will emerge, said director of Cryptoacademy Anton Guglya to the MIEF 2018.

The expert is convinced that with blockhain, there are no unnecessary agents and even the state may become decentralized in the future as it will use smart contracts. Today there are already hundreds of vacancies for blockchain specialists: the market needs developers, crypto investors, crypto lawyers, specialized journalists and bloggers. There are also visionaries who determine whether a particular company needs introduction of block chain.

How to become a blockchain specialist if universities have not begun to train them yet? One should learn from practicioners who have created their own projects and can talk about sophisticated technologies in a simple way, say the experts.

Education in cybersports

Cybersports competition is a new type of sport which is popular among young people and also allows developing children’s cognitive skills, says Roman Povolotsky, Cyber Russian project leader. According to him, a child who plays games develops determination, diligence and the ability to work in a team. Besides, this is a good career guidance tool. A child who is captivated by a game will also go in for development, such children become good designers and programmers.

According to a cyber-sportsman Adalyat Mamedov, Russian universities lack training units in which staff in this sphere would be prepared: trainers, teachers and technical specialists. According to Yaroslav Giryakov, teacher of the Cybersport Department of the Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth and Tourism where the first bachelor’s degree program in cybersports n Russia is being established, a complete lack of scientific research is the main problem of the industry. “We are literally shaping the future. However, it cannot be said that cybersports is one of the main disciplines yet. Now we can offer it as an extracurricular activity.”

Need for creativity. Who meets it now and how?

Creativity is brain training. Due to it, a person can use all his or her knowledge and skills for solving a particular problem. According to experts of the session “Need for creativity. Who meets it now and how?”, teachers who want to diversify learning and to teach children to really think rather than to just guess the solution need to develop creativity.

According to Nargiz Asadova, director of CrashPro school, creativity is depends on the need. Therefore, there should be conditions in which a child has no immediate answer and has to think up something new. Vasily Lebedev, head of the School of Creative Thinking IKRA, is convinced that companies need systemic creative processes which are good for the work of creative people.
